Helen + Hwa - San Francisco, California

Helen + Hwa were married at the glamorous San Francisco landmark, The Bently Reserve. Before the party got started we drove around the City on a cable car (where I practiced my standing-in-a-moving-vehicle-whilst-shooting skills) and took some portraits at the beautiful Lyon Street stairs, one of my favorite photo spots. Helen was radiant and Hwa so sweet, what a lovely couple.

This fabulous black-tie affair was created by the amazing Jubilee Lau, with floral and event design by one of my favorites, Nancy Liu Chin.

When I was last at my parents' house, I came across my old Instamatic (the camera on the right). I brought it back to San Francisco and added it to my large collection of vintage cameras, one of my favorites being the camera on the left. They are such elegant devices, especially ones from the early 1900s.

Admiring old cameras really connects me to my love for film and the process of shooting it. While I am no longer spending hours in the darkroom, waiting patiently by the red glow for that magic moment when the image appears on paper, shimmering in the tray of chemicals, I still have that thrill when I get my film back from the lab. There's just something about that time spent waiting, between clicking the shutter and seeing my images, that brings me back to being a teenager in that darkroom, giddy with excitement, knowing I'd found the thing that would define my life.

Jean + David's sweet summer wedding is featured in the September issue of Brides magazine! Such a lovely couple - I really enjoyed working with them.

The wonderful Rebecca R�ategui was at the helm... I loved the rich colors that Karen Axel of Tapestry Flowers used throughout the event. And of course, Annadel and Paula LeDuc Fine Catering are a flawless combination!

I met up with Chelsea + Scott on a gorgeous June evening in San Francisco. The lighting gods were with us - we had beautiful light at both our locations. And what an adorable, sweet couple! I'm looking forward to their wedding in August, planned by the fabulous Jocelyn Arelt.

Pride + Prejudice

Last month I worked on a wonderful collaboration with some of the country's top vendors on a project inspired by Jane Austen's Pride + Prejudice. The brainchild of Anne Sage of the interiors blog The City Sage, this shoot was right up my alley - a vintage feel, soft colors, romantic florals, and a fantastic location at which to make it all happen: the stunning Villa Montalvo.

We're so excited to see the images in (virtual) print on Style Me Pretty and on Non Pareil, a beautiful new online publication.

And of course a huge thank you to all of our collaborators - this shoot was truly a group effort. One of the reasons I love the wedding industry is that it is filled with amazing artists and amazing people, and this project could not have brought that more to light.

Hold onto your hats, this is a gorgeous one!

Shauna + Mike - Surprise Proposal

When Mike called and asked if I would be a part of his grand scheme: a surprise proposal to Shauna in the middle of what she thought was just a portrait session, of course I said yes! He was so organized and so romantic. And how fun - I felt like a spy, we even had a code word for when he was about to propose! Shauna was blown away and overwhelmed.

It didn't stop there - Mike had a surprise Engagement Party planned at Spruce that very evening with all their friends and family. I am so thrilled to be a part of this couple's exciting year and am looking forward to documenting their wedding this September. Congrats you two!
